Thanksgiving and Prayer Service
Koinonia Patan Church
Kumaripati, Lalitpur
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds;
and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Matt 7:8 NIV
Over 200 Christians met together on Saturday, April 29th, at the Koinonia Patan Church for a Thanksgiving and Prayer Service. The service was divided into two sections, thanksgiving and petition. Each section had specific answers to prayer for thanksgiving and very specific requests for the future. After a time of prayer for each of those items, a different Christian leader closed that specific item in prayer. The room was filled with the sounds of Christians thanking God for His answers and offering their petitions in behalf of their country, the leadership and the king.
Prayers of Thanksgiving were offered for:
• the peace that is prevailing in the country because of God answering the prayers of His children in Nepal and around the world;
• the Nepal Christian Society's solidarity with the People's Movement through the issuing of a press release, giving financial support to the victims, and proclaiming good wishes for the peaceful people's movement;
• the king's wise proclamation in accordance with the people's demands;
• the declaration of a ceasefire and blockade withdrawal by the Maoist in respect of people's voice.
Prayers of Petition to be continued to be offered are for:
• the newly elected Prime Minister Mr. Girija Prasad Koirala and for his proper leadership;
• the new cabinet as it is being formed;
• a peaceful election of the Constituent Assembly;
• the new constitution will be religiously secular and inclusive;
• the Christian community will participate and contribute to the development of the nation and national issues;
• the political parties and political workers will be protected from selfishness as they seek to work together in the development of their nation.
