Historical Prayer for Nepal
Before 1950 there were no Christians in Nepal. In the beginning many Christians all over the world were praying that the doors of Nepal would be opened to the gospel.
The second stage in the 1960’s was that many Christians were praying that hundreds of Nepalese would come to Christ.
Thirdly, in the 1970’s Christians around the world were praying for the establishment of churches in this land. God heard their prayers and many churches were planted during that decade.
Fourthly, from 1980 – 1985 Christians were praying that the Lord would raise up Christian leaders to look after the churches.
The fifth stage was during 1986 – 1990 when the Nepali Church was in the climax of persecution and Christians throughout the world were praying. God heard their prayers and democracy was declared in 1990.
In the sixth stage, 1990 – 1995, many Christians prayed for the spiritual unity among the Christians in Nepal. After democracy, persecution was less, but denominationalism and groupism in the churches became a great problem in the witness for Christ.
Once again, God heard their petitions. From 1996 onwards, the seventh stage, we give thanks and praise to the Lord for bringing Christians to Nepal in the common platform – the Nepal Christian Society – NCS. |
