History of the Nepal Christian Society
The NCS was formed in 1996 through a desire of some Church leaders to come together in unity and provide a forum for all church denominations, church groups and missions within Nepal to work together to extend His Kingdom here in this nation.
The first meeting was held in December 1996 at the Staff College in Lalitpur. At this first General Convention it was unanimously agreed to form a common platform for the entire Christian Community within Nepal.
This common platform would have 3 main purposes:
1. It would be a Meeting Point for all churches, denominations and missions to share and learn from each other;
2. It would be an Information Collection and Sharing Centre so that news, views and issues could be shared and discussed at both national and international levels;
3. It would be a Common and United Voice of the Christian Community so that whenever representation to the Government at both national and international levels is required, the Christian Community would be adequately prepared to make its responses. |
